Who Am I? Alla Olivrī Olivry Maskaļonoka
Dr. Alla Olivrī
I was first educated as a “feldsher” (i.e. a physician assistant) in the early 1990’s, and I subsequently worked as a cardiology nurse, head nurse, then anesthesiologist in several hospitals in Riga. My love for animals and desire for higher education led me to change career and go back to veterinary school, from which I graduated in 2006. It is with the attendance of lectures in dermatology at local congresses that this specialty became my work passion. To gain further education in veterinary dermatology, I completed the training provided by the European School of Advanced Veterinary Studies (ESAVS) in Vienna, I attended international veterinary dermatology congresses in Europe and North America, and I pursued long externships with specialists in Sweden and in the USA. From 2014 to 2019, I participated in the activities of the dermatology service at the NC State University for several weeks per year. I have lectured about veterinary dermatology topics to students and veterinarians in Latvia and Lithuania. I am now working independently as a dermatologist in two veterinary clinics in Riga, where I receive dogs and cats with skin diseases. I can receive clients in Latvian, Russian or English, which I all speak fluently.
